Did you notice the first signs of spring this weekend? It may have been freezing cold, but the bright sunshine, snowdrops and daffodils, just seemed to suggest that warmer weather is coming soon. I love all of the seasons, but by this point in the year I am definitely ready to feel the warmth of the sun on my face.
Sunday included a walk through the woods and gardens of Greys Court, near Henley-on-Thames. There were so many snowdrops and tiny purple crocuses, and lots of plants with new buds inside the walled kitchen garden. It was so cosy in there, protected from the freezing cold wind.
Mia is one of those people who is always warm, and she rarely gives in to wearing winter hats and gloves, but even she was chilly walking through the grounds at Greys “Mama, I’m so cold, I am just going to hide in this tree”.
Saturday was very grey and we visited Oxford late afternoon. Mia had a gift card left from Christmas for a bookshop, and it was lovely cosied up inside the children’s book section reading stories for an hour or so.
Brollies and bikes, real life Oxford for the many local people who live alongside the students and tourists in this beautiful city.
This little street has been given a new lease of life recently. When a pub along here closed down, the building was taken over by a new Caribbean restaurant. They have painted sections of the walls and decorated the concrete planters in bright colours, and have added the twinkly fairy lights too. Along with a new organic deli and cafe, the road is a lovely place in itself now, rather than a dull cut-through route. I hear that the Caribbean restaurant has an amazing cocktail menu and happy hour too!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend x
