Allotment time

IMG_5285eA couple of months ago we adopted a slightly neglected allotment plot in our village. Every weekend (and some evenings!) we try to get up there to prepare the ground, plant and do weeding. More often than not we go as a whole family, meaning that Mia and Joe spend hours playing in the mud!

In my plans for the allotment I have made spaces for them to enjoy the space too. This includes a giant wigwam, that in a few months will be covered in runner beans and sweet peas…I kind of made it large enough that I could play in there with them too *ahem* We are gathering materials for a mud kitchen and sink area, and Mia has her own little piece of earth for growing veggies and flowers.

I am excited for summer to be here, so they can see everything grow, eat fruit and veg straight from the plot and help cook a few things at home. I’m so happy and proud that they have taken so well to allotment life.

Lovely link once again Laura! I love this, we’re going to make a mud kitchen for the littles too, along side our play house, and hopefully some GYO patches 🙂 xx

I volunteer to come and read in your bean wigwam! I tried sowing some runner beans towards the end of April and they are showing no signs of germinating so I’m blaming the temperature plunge that followed the sunny spell… I’ll re-sow in a few days.

I think the wigwam would be perfect for peaceful reading, or less peaceful if Mia & Joe join in! Maybe your beans will grow now it’s warmer and wetter…mine are taking over the kitchen! x
