Sunday was such a wintery and bleak day. The temptation to stay in bed or snuggled in duvets on the sofa was almost overwhelming! We had planned to go along to a forest school session mid-morning, but that turned into second breakfasts and story-reading and cake-baking instead. After lunch, or breakfast number three, we decided to get some fresh air with a walk. We headed to one of our favourite local spots, the Wittenham Clumps and walked to the river near Dorchester. It was so misty in places we could only see a few metres ahead. Mia squelched in mud (and fell over in it) and washed some of it off with a large amount of puddle jumping!

After an hour or two walking we were all covered in mud, apart from Joe, who got to be carried most of the way in the baby backpack! It was so nice to get back to our cosy home; the sofa, blankets and cake seemed even better for having got so cold and wet. I really think it’s the best way to beat the January blues, just to get out there and embrace it.
