Picking blackberries in the garden

Such gorgeous blackberries from the garden. They grow wild in a slightly brambly patch. This year they are really early and there are hundreds of them. I picked a whole bowl of berries in about ten minutes! I know that the field behind the garden will have many more. Today’s blackberries became blackberry and apple crumble…a little bit wrong in August, but hey, it has been pretty grey and stormy today, and that justifies crumble and custard! The next batch of berries will become blueberry blackberry jam.
