patchwork baby quilt

Mentions of worldwide quilting day yesterday reminded me that I have not shared any photos of my current patchwork project, a sweet baby blanket made from hundreds of tiny triangles.

I usually start a new quilt project by drawing ideas from a few different places, like pinterest, blogs and fabric stores. This time I saw the loveliest quilt on the purl bee blog in the most gorgeous JapaneseĀ yarn dyed linen blend solids, and had to make it!

I am using the traditional paper piecing technique, which is quite time consuming, but a great way of ensuring accuracy. I have nearly reached the point where all of the triangles are tacked, and I will be able to put the blocks together. I love that part…choosing the colours that go well together, and then matching up the blocks into rows.

It looks great, I can’t wait to see it finished. The muted colours look great with the triangles as well. I saw a nice ombre cushion with a triangle pattern the other day.
