Every autumn the fair visits Oxfordshire. It starts in Oxford in September, moving around various towns before arriving at Abingdon in early October for the Michelmas Fair; followed a week later by the smaller Runaway Fair.  A few hundred years ago it used to be a hiring fair, where people went to find work or staff. The runaway fair was for those that quickly changed their mind about the new job they had taken! I blogged about the Oxford fair, held on St Giles, last year here.
